Why We’re Embracing Agentic AI

July 23, 2026

Three sessions, three weeks, and how I’m using agentic AI as a London Executive Assistant.

Three sessions, in three weeks, and I feel terrified, excited and fascinated.

That’s not the usual opener for a business update, but it’s the honest one. I’ve just completed the Claude Cowork Programme with ivee, and it’s changed how I think about running an Executive Assistant business day to day.

Why an Executive Assistant is learning agentic AI

Once upon a time, email trumped the fax machine. Tractors trumped working animals. The iPhone trumped the torch.

None of those changes were about replacing people. They were about freeing people up to do the parts of the job that actually needed a human. That’s exactly how I see agentic AI fitting into executive assistant services and virtual assistant support for small businesses. It’s not here to replace the judgement, the relationships or the discretion that good EA work depends on. It’s here to take the repeatable, fiddly admin off the desk so there’s more time for the parts that do.

So I’m leaning into it, properly, not just watching from the sidelines.

What the Claude Cowork Programme actually covers

The programme, run by ivee, is a structured introduction to agentic AI for business, specifically using Claude Cowork as the tool. Over three sessions, our tutor Abdil walked us through how agentic AI can support day to day operations for founders, SMEs and busy executives, the exact audience I work with every day.

A few things stood out:

  • Delegating to AI works a lot like delegating to a person. Clear brief, the right context, and checking in at the right moments rather than every five minutes.
  • Agentic AI for administrative tasks isn’t about doing everything at once. It’s about identifying the repeatable admin work, diary management, research, first-draft content, and letting the tool handle the heavy lifting while a human handles the judgement calls.
  • There are caveats. Data handling, client confidentiality and knowing when a task genuinely needs a human are all things I take seriously, especially working across sectors like legal, healthcare and financial services where discretion isn’t optional.

What this means for my clients

As a Virtual Assistant business supporting founders and executives across London and beyond, staying ahead of new technology for executive assistants isn’t optional either. My clients trust me to run their operations efficiently, and that means understanding the tools that can genuinely help, not just the ones that are trending.

Completing this AI training for virtual assistants means I can now bring agentic AI workflows into how I support clients directly, from streamlining diary management to speeding up research and reporting, always with the same discretion and quality control I’d apply to any task.

Keeping up so my clients don’t have to

The pace of change in AI tools for business is fast, and it’s not slowing down. Part of what I offer as a freelance Executive Assistant is doing the legwork of keeping up with new tech, so my clients don’t have to. Whether that’s Claude Cowork, automation workflows, or the next tool that comes along, I’ll be testing it, understanding its limits, and only bringing it into client work where it genuinely earns its place.

Thank you to Abdil and the team at ivee for a programme that respected our time and didn’t drown us in jargon. Three sessions in, and I’m already thinking differently about how I structure my week.

If you’re curious what agentic AI actually looks like in a working Executive Assistant’s day, or want to know how it might support your own business, get in touch. Always happy to talk shop over a cup of tea.

As a business, we are continuing to keep up with new tech in order to service our clients in the best way we can.
